During this first week of school Ms. Gates, the 6th grade Gold Team World History teacher, and I get our classes together. We discuss empathy and judging people. We also spend a great deal of time on how to build a successful community. This in turn lends itself into setting up our "Classroom Constitution". The constitution is developed and discussed by all students in order to learn what is needed to be functioning member of the community, from the expectations we have for one an other to the consequences of failing the community. Below please find some of the videos that we have watched to help the kids understand empathy and how to build a successful learning community.
